Claymation Creation is one lesson in a series of three exploring the field of animation. See the unit & read more each lesson below: Lesson 1: Drawing Stop Motion is an exploration of animation specific to the field of stop motion drawing. Students will pick a genre and use whiteboard drawings to create a 30 second stop motion animation illustrating their chosen drawings. Students will use technology such as iMovie to put together their final films, which will be viewed in front of the class. Lesson 2: Claymation Creation is a three-dimensional exploration of the animation field using story themes as its focal point. After viewing and discussing several famous examples of claymation film, students will break into groups and create a storyboard that explores a chosen theme (will be provided a list). Then, using clay and various studio materials, groups will create a 30 second - 1 minute claymation. Using iMovie students will put their images together and add sound/music.We will present the films as a class and guess what each groups themes are. Lesson 3: Photographic Stop Motion is an exploration in animation using acting and motion. Students will come up with characters and relationships, dress up in costume, and take pictures that will make up a story. Then they will piece together their stories in iMovie and share them with the class.
